It was been a busy year for us at Hermann Services! In our 96th year in business we accomplished so much! Just to name a few of those accomplishments, we:
Highlighted working mothers through “Motherhood at Hermann.”
Launched a partnership with Rutgers through their Road to Supply Chain Leadership program.
Made the NJ Best Places to Work list.
Became a national gold-star corporate sponsor for Toys for Tots.
Supported South Brunswick’s National Night Out.
Expanded our warehousing in Houston, Texas.
Participated in Wreaths Across America.
And so much more!
We’re thankful for the year we’ve had, and we’re excited for the year ahead.
To show our support for our female employees, we organized a Mother’s Day project called “Motherhood at Hermann.” This project highlighted some of our working mothers who balance full-time jobs with motherhood through interviews, personal spotlights, and a video shoot. The mothers of Hermann shared their stories and discussed the challenges of being a working mother in a male-dominated industry. You can watch the full video on our YouTube channel.
We announced our partnership with Rutgers and their Road to Supply Chain Leadership program this year, a special curriculum that helps students prepare for careers in the supply chain through coaching, mentorships, and networking. Over the summer, we also hosted a few interns from the program at Hermann Services, providing them with real-world experience in the logistics field as they researched solutions to pressing issues in the industry, such as electric vehicles.
We were honored to make it onto the 2023 New Jersey Best Places to Work List. Notably, we were the only ‘large company’ listed to be under the ‘Transportation, Supply Chain, and Storage’ category. To earn this distinction, we completed a survey on our human resources policies and company culture. Employees were then sent a survey that covered various aspects of the working experience at Hermann. It was an honor to make the list this year, and it’s all thanks to our wonderful employees.
South Brunswick’s National Night Out was ranked as the number-one celebration in the country this year, and Hermann Services was honored to be a part of it as a Diamond Level Sponsor. This nationwide event is hosted by local police departments to promote safety and foster connections within the community. The Hermann tent was located right off the main parking lot and featured one of our Hermann trucks, a magician, and we also brought Nomad Pizza along with us. Our trailer wrapped for the Road to Supply Chain Leadership program was also onsite to promote our partnership.
Our warehousing continued to expand this year in Houston, Texas, with a new warehouse on the East Sam Houston Parkway. Located just 12 miles from the Port of Houston, with direct access to the Beltway and I-10, this location will offer truck parking along with all our supply chain offerings.
Hermann Warehouse Corporation is committed to maintaining clean, modern, and well-maintained warehouses. Three of our Hermann Warehouses received AIB Superior ratings this year and this is the second year all three facilities have exceeded the passing score of 700:
New Castle, DE – 965
Rising Sun Road, NJ – 950
Bordentown-Hedding Road, NJ – 930
AIB Certifications allow us to ensure the safety of end consumers, show accountability, and strengthen consumer trust. These scores allow us to partner with organizations that ship and store food-grade products, which must be stored in clean, quality-controlled warehouses.
On top of their Superior AIB rating, our Bordentown-Hedding Road warehouse became Organic certified! This means we can now safely store and transload organic food products at this facility. Our incredible staff at this warehouse have gone the extra mile to ensure the warehouse remains clean and that organic items are segregated from other products in the warehouse to eliminate cross-contamination.
Hermann Services has been a proud sponsor of Toys for Tots since 2004, and last year we were named a national gold-star corporate sponsor. We opened the doors of our corporate office to the community to collect donations, and Santa Claus stopped by for pictures! Nomad Pizza was onsite to help support the event with delicious pizza, and we also provided fresh hot chocolate, coffee, light snacks, and more. This year our Houston, Texas, facility held its first toy drive where Santa Claus also made an appearance for pictures. It was a great event that helped spread holiday cheer even further! Thanks to the help of our employees, associates, and the community, we were able to collect a total of $105,000 worth of toys across all our locations this year.
Since 2018, we have proudly partnered with Wreaths Across America to honor and remember our fallen soldiers by transporting wreaths for their ceremonies. Our two trailers wrapped with the organization’s information make rounds in the east and southwest regions. This year, we’ve expanded our reach and delivered to three separate cemeteries. Clete Cheshire was one of the drivers who helps ensure the wreaths safely reach their destinations. As an army veteran who served eight years, he takes Wreath Across America’s mission to heart. “I don't think I know anyone that died in combat or that's buried in a military cemetery, however when you're in the military the soldiers around you become family. Wreaths Across America is a special tribute to them and I'm humbled to participate,” he said. The holiday season is the perfect time to show our appreciation for our veterans, and we are honored to be part of this noble cause.
We’re excited to see what the year ahead holds for us, and we have a lot of plans for the future! Follow us on all our social media to keep up with everything Hermann Services:
