Educate, Empower, and Eradicate Through Partnerships

According to the U.S. Department of State, over 27.6 million individuals worldwide are estimated to be victims of human trafficking, and they can be of any age, ethnicity, and background. Recognizing its dual nature as a crime and a public health concern, the U.S. Department of State established January as the annual month to raise awareness and equip communities with tools for prevention against trafficking.

Project Protect Our Children is a non-profit that provides preventative educational programs and awareness training, as well as direct services to teenage trafficking survivors. This is significant because, “1 in 4 human trafficking victims are children,” according to Project Protect Our Children. They understand the value and importance of teaching children to protect themselves from this crime and their goal is to help end human trafficking.

Hermann Services has proudly supported Project Protect Our Children since 2021 by wrapping our trailer in its message and participating in events like their Summer Festival. Our trailer and a few of our Houston employees attended Project Protect Our Children’s Summer Festival in June 2023. “I was proud to represent Hermann Transportation this past June and join Project Protect our Children to support a good cause at their Summer Festival to promote awareness of sex trafficking,” said Sylvia Rocha, Office Administrator for our Houston location. The festival was another way to bring communities together, raise awareness, and honor all the hard work their Youth Action Board has done to further this goal throughout the year.

Truckers Against Trafficking is a non-profit that understands the important role those in the transportation industry play as the eyes and ears of our nation’s highways. They aim to create, “A mobile army of transportation professionals to assist law enforcement in the recognition and reporting of human trafficking, in order to aid in the recovery of victims and the arrest of their perpetrators.” They have trained 1,510,474 industry professionals, which is a 17% increase from the amount they trained in 2021. Hermann Services is proud to be one of the many organizations that have partnered with Truckers Against Trafficking to educate our employees on the signs to be aware of and what to do if you suspect trafficking.

Human trafficking hinges on exploiting others, equipping individuals with the tools to recognize and report potential trafficking situations is a critical step in putting a stop to this crime. Project Protect Our Children, Truckers Against Trafficking and many other organizations work to raise awareness and teach as many people as possible the signs to be on the lookout for. Our partnership with both organizations reflects our deep belief in protecting all children from abuse and exploitation.
