The Hermann difference isn’t just about logistics…

… it’s about the people who bring heart, integrity, and excellence to their work every day. This quarter, we’re celebrating four team members whose stories reflect the culture we’ve built: one where careers flourish, families thrive, and every contribution matters.

IT Service Coordinator

Eric Blumenthal

For nearly three years, Eric has been an essential part of the Hermann Services IT team, providing technical support that keeps our logistics and warehousing operations running smoothly across New Jersey, Delaware, and Texas. As an IT Service Coordinator, he ensures our office and warehouse staff have the technology infrastructure and support they need to deliver exceptional service to our customers.

Supporting Multi-Location Logistics Operations Through IT Excellence

In his role, Eric provides IT support for our teams across all three states. Whether it’s troubleshooting technical issues, setting up new equipment, or helping staff with software questions, his work is critical to maintaining the digital backbone of Hermann Services’ operations.

“From the start, Eric has done a great job of taking ownership of a number of IT tasks,” said Charley O’Neill, his manager. “He’s always eager to expand his skillset and has been a valuable member of the IT team.”

Building Company Culture Through Connection

When asked about his favorite memory at Hermann Services, Eric shared: “The summer cookoffs where we get to enjoy some good food, but also enjoy some time with my co-workers.” These events reflect Hermann Services’ commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture where employees are valued as individuals, not just team members.

Coaching Youth Baseball and Building Future Champions

Outside of his IT career, baseball is a big part of Eric’s life. “You can find me on the baseball field coaching my two sons’ teams, a 12U travel baseball team, and a coach-pitch team.”  This past fall, he helped lead his oldest son’s team to their first season championship, an accomplishment he’s incredibly proud of. When asked about an accomplishment he’s proud of, Eric shared: “Becoming a dad and helping coach my oldest son’s baseball team to capture their first season championship this past fall.”

Cultural Exploration on the Bucket List

When he’s not working or coaching youth sports, Eric has travel plans on his mind. On his bucket list, he wants to travel to Colombia and China to experience his extended family’s cultures.

A Valued Member of the Hermann Services Team

Eric’s dedication to keeping our teams connected through reliable IT support, his commitment to his family, and his positive presence around the office make him an essential part of Hermann Services. As we continue to grow our logistics operations across the Northeast and Texas, team members like Eric ensure we have the technical infrastructure to support that growth.

Driver

Dylan Degering and His Road Dog, Anna

Most truck drivers have a playlist, a podcast, or a thermos of coffee to keep them company on long hauls. Driver Dylan Degering, has Anna.

Anna is a boxer-Stafford mix with more energy than Dylan knows what to do with, a love of water, and a talent for chasing Canadian geese. She rides in the day cab, sleeps in her own dog bed, and has become something of a celebrity among Dylan’s colleagues. “People ask about her before they ask about me,” he says with a laugh. “I don’t mind being known as the ‘dog guy.’”

Their story started about a year ago, and it wasn’t exactly planned. Anna showed up out of nowhere, malnourished and chipless, weighing about 20 pounds. Dylan took her to a shelter, but when he found out they intended to put her down, he walked right back out with her. He told himself he wasn’t keeping her, but that didn’t last long.

“She just ran up to me,” he says. “She’s a joy to be around. She really brightens up your attitude.”

Anna has settled into life on the road like she was built for it. Dylan keeps the cab clean, keeps her off his lap while driving, and has worked out a routine that works for both of them. Every few hours, they stop so she can stretch her legs. And Anna has done something Dylan admits he wouldn’t do on his own: she makes him take his breaks. “I usually power through, but she needs to go to the bathroom, so sometimes I’ll split my breaks up. She keeps me honest.”

It took a while for Anna’s personality to fully come out after her rough start, but Dylan says she’s a different dog now. “She’s like a jet-powered engine. She loves water, loves showers, loves life.” She’s also, as it turns out, can be a bit of a threat to local wildlife. On a trip to the dog park, two Canadian geese landed across the field. Before Dylan could react, Anna was gone. A few minutes later, she came trotting back with feathers in her mouth.

Beyond the laughs, Anna’s impact on Dylan’s day is real. His dispatcher, Carol, has noticed it too. Having a dog along for the ride has a way of softening long days behind the wheel and keeping things in perspective.

Anna came into Dylan’s life by accident, half-starved and without a home. Now she has a bed in a truck, a driver who stops for her, and a whole company that knows her name.

She landed on her feet.

Helena Malloy

Some people are just built for the pace of logistics. Helena Malloy, Customer Service Representative at Hermann Services’ New Castle facility, is one of them and she has been proving it for nearly five years.

Her days are filled with everything from receiving inventory and creating deliveries to printing Bills of Lading and managing a steady stream of calls and emails. It is a role that requires someone who can stay organized, think on their feet, and thrive in a fast-paced logistics environment. Helena does all three.

“My day is never dull. From receiving inventory and creating deliveries to printing Bills of Lading, all while juggling calls and emails, it’s a busy, but rewarding, ride!”

Building a Career in Logistics

Outside of work, Helena is currently working toward her bachelor’s degree in business management, balancing coursework alongside a demanding full-time role without missing a beat. “I’m working towards my bachelor’s degree in business management. It’s a big step, and I’m proud of staying focused and committed.”

Her drive reflects the kind of culture Hermann Services works to foster across all of our facilities in New Jersey, Delaware, and Texas.

Life at Hermann Services

When asked about her favorite memory at Hermann Services, Helena didn’t hesitate. “Oh, the Christmas parties! They’re always a blast, full of laughter, good food, and great company. We really know how to celebrate the season!”

When she is not working or studying, you might find Helena gaming online or spending time with the people who matter most to her.

“Spending quality time with my family is my absolute favorite. They’re my biggest cheerleaders and my greatest joy!”

As for her bucket list, Helena has her sights set on Italy and we have no doubt she will get there.

Glissette Blount

Glissette has been part of the Hermann Services family since October 2023, serving as a Driver Manager at our Houston, Texas, location. In her role, she’s the go-to person for the drivers she manages, communicating updates, solving challenges, welcoming new drivers to the team, and making sure everyone has what they need to be successful on the road.

Managing Drivers and Supporting Logistics Operations

“My job is to manage drivers, communicate changes to orders or loads, assist with questions about customer deliveries, and help set goals so everyone can succeed,” Glissette explains. “I also develop game plans to recover loads and prevent failures. It’s all about providing support to drivers and coworkers.”

As a Driver Manager in the trucking and logistics industry, Glissette plays a critical role in ensuring smooth transportation operations. From coordinating delivery schedules to troubleshooting last-minute challenges, her work keeps Hermann Services’ fleet running efficiently across Texas and beyond.

Building Team Culture Through Memorable Moments

When asked about her favorite memories at Hermann Services, Glissette lights up talking about the moments that bring the team together: “The grand opening at our East Sam Houston Parkway warehouse, Toys for Tots, the Space Cowboys baseball game, my grandkids loved that one! And our safety meetings where all the drivers gather. Those are the moments that stick with me.”

These experiences reflect Hermann Services’ commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture where employees celebrate milestones together and support community initiatives like the annual Toys for Tots partnership.

From Runway Modeling to Marathon Goals

Outside of work, Glissette is a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren and loves spending her free time fishing and making memories with them. But here’s something that might surprise you: Glissette was a runway model as a teenager! These days, she’s focused on different goals, like running a marathon, which is at the top of her bucket list.

A Valued Leader at Hermann Services

Glissette’s dedication to her team, her positive energy, and her commitment to supporting drivers every day make her an invaluable part of Hermann Services. Her expertise in driver management and her ability to build strong relationships with the drivers she supports contribute to the success of our Houston operations.
