Scott Walcovich
Scott is a Senior Customer Service Specialist for our Rising Sun Road and Bordentown-Hedding Road, New Jersey, warehouses, who has been a dedicated part of the team for over three years. He handles order processing, monthly billing, and is also in direct contact with our customers, but his impact goes far beyond his job title. “Scott is an employee you can count on,” said Hector Comulado, Warehouse Manager. Early on, Scott showed his commitment by stepping up to support the launch of our Houston location. “He went to Houston to help start up and train a new Customer Service Representative. After that, he continued training remotely by Zoom,” Hector continued.
Before joining Hermann, Scott worked in education test processing, but when the opportunity to be part of Team Hermann came up, it was a clear yes. “Transportation, warehousing, and logistics are the way of the future,” he shared. “Who wouldn’t want to be part of a growing industry, especially with the Hermann brand?”
While many assume the role focuses solely on one area of warehousing, Scott is quick to clarify: “It actually involves all facets of day-to-day processes, it’s a dynamic job with a lot of moving parts.”
One of Scott’s lifelong passions is surfing. He first hit the waves at just five years old on the Jersey Shore and never looked back. “Luckily, my family moved to California during high school, where surfing is a way of life,” Scott shares. “Then I came back to the Jersey Shore and picked up right where I left off.” When it’s time to unwind after a busy day, Scott turns to music. You’ll often find him relaxing with his guitar in hand, “I’m not great,” he admits with a laugh, “but I enjoy it.”
Outside of work, Scott and his wife keep weekends simple and meaningful with a tradition that’s all their own. Every Saturday starts with a grocery shopping date, followed by their favorite takeout, and back-to-back movie marathons. And when it’s football season? Sundays are all about the Eagles, complete with spirited cheers and the team’s unmistakable rally cry: “E-A-G-L-E-S, Go Eagles!”
Jose Valentin
Jose is an Owner Operator who has proudly been part of the Hermann Services team for over 21 years. As a longtime driver for a large cosmetics company, Jose ensures freight is safely and efficiently delivered between their various locations. A responsibility he carries with professionalism and pride.
Jose’s journey into trucking started with a simple love for driving. “It’s something I enjoyed from a young age,” he shares. After earning his CDL and gaining experience as a company driver, Jose saw an opportunity to take the wheel of his own future. “I saw the opportunity to grow as an owner-operator, giving me the freedom to manage my own business, driving and delivering freight.
His attention to detail is just one of the many things that set him apart. As his Driver Manager, Bill Tihanich put it: “Jose maintains one of the cleanest trucks that I have seen. He is a very polite and professionally mannered man.”
What many don’t know is that Jose is also skilled in diesel mechanics and has a passion for working with his hands, especially woodworking and carpentry. After long days on the road, he enjoys unwinding with his wife and family, playing guitar, reading, or simply going for a walk.
Jose considers his greatest accomplishments to be building a beautiful life with his family, owning a home they love, and having had the chance to explore the country through his work. “I am thankful for the chance the Hermann family gave me,” he says. “Their support has been awesome, and I appreciate being part of the team.”
Richie Hermann
Richie joined the Hermann team in 2022 as a Customer Service Representative. Since then, he’s taken on new responsibilities managing various accounts and, as of March this year, was promoted to Operations Lead.
In this role, Richie oversees activity on the warehouse floor, ensuring inventory accuracy, promoting safe warehouse practices, and keeping communication strong between our customer service team and warehouse staff. A big part of his job involves maximizing space efficiently in the warehouse, something he describes as “a complex game of Tetris.”
Richie’s impact hasn’t gone unnoticed. His manager, Hector Comulado, shared: “When I needed a warehouse lead, Richie was my top choice, and sure enough, he has been a big help and one of the reasons I can successfully manage all our Bordentown warehouses. He’s always asking what else I need and what he can help with.”
When asked about common misconceptions in the industry, Richie shared, “People often think one person can run a warehouse. In reality, it takes a team of hardworking individuals to make a warehouse run safely and efficiently, and I’m fortunate to have a staff that is exactly that.”
Richie’s history with Hermann started long before 2022. He previously worked as a trailer mechanic during summer breaks from school, learning the ropes from Clint, a longtime Hermann employee who taught Richie a lot of what he currently knows about how to fix trailers.
Outside of work, Richie enjoys spending time with his fiancée and their two dogs. “We love taking the dogs on hikes and bringing them along whenever we can,” he shared. He’s also a fan of skiing, playing video games, and watching sports. Traveling with friends and family is another passion of his, and he looks forward to doing even more of it in the future.
Jerry Bruno
Jerry is a Driver Manager who has been keeping our operations running smoothly since 2006. With a career path that’s as unique as it is inspiring, he’s a great example of how passion, persistence, and curiosity can lead to unexpected places.
Before joining the logistics world, Jerry was baking and delivering fresh goods each morning. “I used to be a baker and delivered what I made,” he said. That hands-on experience sparked his interest in trucking, eventually leading him to earn his Class A license and become a driver himself. Over time, his curiosity about the bigger picture, how routes were planned, and how dispatch worked, led him to the office. “I’d watch what the dispatch managers were doing and slowly figured it out.”
Today, he manages over 20 drivers, coordinating daily routes, ensuring vehicle maintenance, and promoting safe driving practices. He also steps in as a planner when needed, helping to map out the most efficient routes for the team.
When asked about the biggest misconception people have about his job, he didn’t hesitate: “They assume it’s easy until they see what actually goes on behind the scenes.” Managing a large team of drivers means being flexible, responsive, and ready to cover more than expected when needed. It’s a high-pressure role, but one he handles with dedication and professionalism.
Jerry ‘s presence hasn’t gone unnoticed by his team. Mike Horvath, General Manager, summed it up best: “Jerry is a vital part of our team, known for his strong work ethic and steadfast dedication. He brings a consistently positive and friendly attitude that makes him approachable and well-liked by his colleagues and drivers. Always willing to put in the extra effort, Jerry is reliable and ensures tasks are completed successfully.”
One of his proudest accomplishments is staying grounded through it all. “Being myself and staying true to who I am,” he shared. When it comes to unwinding after a long day, he keeps it simple: “I like to grab a cup of coffee, sit outside, and relax—or just scroll through Facebook to catch up on what’s going on.”
